Messy Church at St Leonard’s is held on the 4th Sunday of the month from February to November from 5pm – 7pm.

Messy Church is provided by St Leonard’s Uniting Church for children and families who may not find the traditional Sunday morning service appealing. It includes hands on creative experiences, a short time of worship and a meal.

Role

Messy Church

The primary purpose of the Messy Church Assistant at St Leonard’s Uniting Church is to assist the Minister and the volunteer support team to arrange and deliver a safe and vibrant Messy Church.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Minister and team to grow a safe and vibrant Messy Church at St Leonard’s Uniting Church by:

  • Assisting with coordination of volunteers and developing an engaging children’s program.
  • Supporting the Minister to expand the program and be willing to share in Messy Church activities withchildren and others present.
  • Engage with new families and children to attract more children to Messy Church and make connectionsto the church community as appropriate.

Key Skills/Core Competencies

  • Ability to coordinate activities and to engage with volunteers, families and children of all ages.
  • Excellent relationship building and communication skills, with people across generations and diversebackgrounds.

Desired experience

  • Experience in working with children in activity programs.
  • Experience in working with volunteers and developing strong, and supportive relationships.

Personal Attributes and qualities

  • A heart for, and understanding of, working with children and growing children’s activity programs.
  • A willingness to work within the ethos of the Uniting Church.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications and /or experience in children’s activity programs.
  • Current Working with Children Check.

Remuneration

$200 per month/session
