Often we find our faith is strong when grounded in regular practices and structure that attending church brings. But when we can’t meet together for worship and service, where does our faith come from? It becomes something we have to intentionally carve time out for, and if we are honest, our faith should be something we invest in not just on Sundays and when at church activities, but everyday. There is a place for Youth and Young Adults at St Leonard’s.
We have a range of programs for you to belong, grow, and share. You can grow leadership skills, enjoy the social and fun times and learn about being a Christian.
- The Soul Squad
Soul Squad is our fortnightly youth gathering for young people in years 3 – 9 at school. We meet on the 2ndand 4th Sunday of the month. Soul Squad is a community of people passionate about things that stir the soul. We have conversations of faith, identity, social justice and also theme evenings with different fun activities, such as cooking, sports, movie making, party games, dodgeball and much more. Cost is $5 to cover the costs of dinner.
- Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club is the high school Sunday School group that runs weekly during the 10.30am New Wave Worship. We share food and catch up about the week while we come together around a topic of faith and life. All youth are welcome!
- Glass Darkly Youth Band
All high school aged young people are welcome to join our youth worship band, ‘Glass Darkly’. Glass Darkly play a variety of worship music at our New Wave Worship Service around once a month. All instruments and skill levels are welcome to have a jam!
- Holiday Hangs
During school holidays, a program is run one day a week for young people in year 5 -12. Lunch and snacks are provided. Activities include, arts and craft, movies, music, games and sports. Registrations and dates are made available from week 5 of term.
For Young Adults (18- 35 year olds)
- Young Adults Potluck Dinner
Once a month all 18-35 year olds are invited to gather for a potluck dinner. Young Adults bring something to share and meet in the comfort of a home for an evening of conversation, community and usually board games. Contact Nicole for dates and details of the next dinner.
- Sonder Bible Study
Young adults from around the churches in Bayside meet fortnightly on a Thursday Night for bible study and discussions. Working through different study books, attending theological lectures and discussions and hosting social nights are all regular events for this group.
- JCRC Young Adults Band
All young adults are welcome to join our worship band ‘JCRC’. The band plays a variety of worship music at our New Wave Worship Service around once a month. All instruments and skill levels are welcome to have a jam!
Throughout the year we attend a variety of camps for both youth and young adults.
State Youth Games in June for both Youth and Young Adults,
Somers Camp in July for young people in year 3 – 12
Sonder Youth Camp is held in September for 11-17 year olds
Sonder Young Adults Getaway is held in October for 18-35 year olds.
